304 stainless steel plate is a general-purpose chromium-nickel material for fabricated equipment, construction, food-processing equipment, and industrial applications. A useful inquiry identifies the required standard, thickness, width, length, rolling condition, surface finish, quantity, and destination.
For thicker flat products, state the actual thickness rather than relying on the word “plate.” The right selection also depends on the service environment: 304 is widely used for general applications, while chloride-bearing or more demanding corrosive service can require another grade.
