Product Details

2507 is a ferritic-austenitic (dual-phase) stainless steel, belonging to the super dual-phase stainless steel with a PREN value greater than 40. It contains high levels of chromium, nickel, molybdenum, and nitrogen as alloy elements. It has excellent resistance to pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion, stress corrosion, and uniform corrosion. 2507 has a high strength, with its yield strength Rp0.2 reaching over 550 MPa.

2507 super dual-phase stainless steel is widely used in harsh corrosive environments such as those rich in chloride ions, CO₂, and H₂S in the development and extraction of oil and gas, offshore platforms, chemical processing, water treatment, etc. In recent years, research on the optimization of the hot rolling process and additive manufacturing processes such as laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) for 2507 has gradually gained attention.

2507 is a ferritic-austenitic (dual-phase) stainless steel, belonging to the super dual-phase stainless steel (SDSS), with a PREN value greater than 40. Its typical chemical composition is approximately 25% Cr, 7% Ni, 4% Mo, and 0.27% N. 2507 has excellent resistance to pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion, uniform corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking, while also having high strength and good toughness.

2507 super dual-phase stainless steel is widely used in harsh corrosive environments such as those in the oil and gas industry, offshore platforms, chemical processing, etc.

2507 belongs to the third-generation dual-phase stainless steel (super dual-phase stainless steel), developed in the late 1980s. Its high chromium, nickel, molybdenum, and nitrogen content balance the ratio between ferrite and austenite, making it have better corrosion resistance and higher strength.

In recent years, the development of 2507-based super dual-phase stainless steel products has gradually gained attention, but the hot processing is difficult. Wu Min conducted thermal plasticity simulation research to address the defects such as edge cracking and surface texture that are prone to occur in 2507 hot rolled steel coils, and optimized the hot rolling process to solve the production defects.

The research focuses on the influence of the ratio (ferrite/austenite) and the precipitation of harmful phases (such as σ phase, Cr2N) on the mechanical properties of 2507, especially the low-temperature impact toughness.

2507 is a ferritic-austenitic (dual-phase) stainless steel, which combines the most beneficial properties of ferritic steel and austenitic steel. Due to the high content of chromium and molybdenum in this steel, it has excellent resistance to pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion, and uniform corrosion. The dual-phase microstructure ensures that this steel has high resistance to stress corrosion cracking and high mechanical strength.

The main components of 2507 stainless steel are 25Cr-7Ni-4Mo-0.27N.

The application fields of 2507 stainless steel include desalination plants, high-pressure RO plants and subsea pipelines, offshore platforms, heat exchangers, underwater equipment, fire protection equipment, and seawater treatment equipment, chemical processing industry, utensils and pipeline industry, mechanical components (high-strength, corrosion-resistant components), oil and gas industry equipment, corrosion-resistant parts of chemical vessels, energy industry FGD systems, industrial cleaning systems, absorption towers . 2507 stainless steel is used in the oil and gas industry, such as offshore oil platforms (heat exchanger tubes) . In the project of the Lede 22-1/15-1 gas field in the South China Sea developed by China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), to address the corrosion problems caused by the high levels of chloride ions, CO2 and H2S in natural gas, the process designers selected super duplex stainless steel 2507 as the pipeline material for the wellhead manifold system of the offshore platform. Its application also includes water treatment and water supply systems, fire protection systems; petrochemical equipment; desalination (water purification) equipment (and the high-pressure pipes and seawater pipes within the equipment); mechanical and structural components that require both high strength and high corrosion resistance; and flue gas purification equipment.
